Johannes Dichgans
Specializing in visuo-vestibular research, Professor Johannes Dichgans participated in the space flight program Spacelab-1, at a time when Ulf Merbold flew into outer space in 1983, being the first non-American on a US Shuttle mission. Later he investigated the physiology of the cerebellum in health and disease.
Josef Dudel
Professor Dr. Josef Dudel is an internationally renowned expert in the field of synaptic transmission. Along with Stephen F. Kuffler, he was the first to describe the mechanism of presynaptic GABAergic inhibition.
Georg W. Kreutzberg
Georg W. Kreutzberg was an expert in the field of degeneration and regeneration of the central nervous system. In 2007, he received the first class Federal Cross of Merit, honoring also his manifold voluntary work.
Gerhard Neuweiler
Throughout his life, Professor Dr. Gerhard Neuweiler’s scientific interest focused on the auditory system of bats. He was especially interested in the mechanisms of echolocation. His multidisciplinary work combined behavioural ecology, comparative Anatomy, electrophysiology and systems theory.
