Gerhard Neuweiler

Gerhard Neurweiler was born in Nagold/Black Forest in 1935. He obtained his PhD in 1962. From 1972 to 1980, he chaired the Department of Zoology at the Goethe-University Frankfurt. From 1980 to 2003, he chaired the Department of Zoology and comparative Anatomy at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University Frankfurt. In 1990, he was awarded the Karl-Ritter-von Frisch Medal by the German Zoology Society. Gerhard Neuweiler was a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, of the Leopoldina, of the Academia Europaea, and an honorary fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He passed away on August 15, 2008 after a long illness. |
