Comparative Anatomy and Pathology of the Rodent and Human Brain

Topics:
The goal of the course is to compare pathologic alterations found in experimental rodent models of neurodegenerative diseases with the pathology in the human brain. Participants are encouraged to bring histological sections from their own experiments and rodent models to the course for discussion
(2 weeks notice required). The course includes:

  • an overview of the anatomy of the rodent and human brain and spinal cord
  • hands-on-lab sessions for introduction into neuroanatomical techniques to study the human brain
  • an introduction to the pathological neuroanatomy of neurodegenerative disorders including but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
