Beschreibung:

The European Meeting on Glial Cells in Health and Disease invites participation from neuroglia researchers from all over the world. This meeting is the largest assembly of scientists working on glial cells and has no equivalent in the world, neither in the US nor in Asia.
27 years after being established by an inaugural meeting in Heidelberg in 1994, the European Glial meeting has become the world’s largest and most comprehensive scientific gathering on glial cell biology and medicine. It is held every two years.
Participants are doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, senior post-docs, senior scientists, clinicians and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry. About 20% of the participants are students. The participants come from most European countries but we will also have a large participation from USA and Asia.
Participants will share and discuss the 7 plenary lectures, 30 symposia, 3 workshops and a large number of posters and exhibits that will define and extend the cutting edges of our important field.
We expect the presentation of novel ideas and the establishment of novel collaborations between the different labs in Europe and beyond. The measurable indicator of this is the number of posters which are presented, because they are the summaries of new concepts and new findings in the field. We expect around 800 poster registration. Thus, an important focus of the meeting is to provide a forum for students and young scientists. Therefore, we plan extensive time for poster presentations.
A unique feature of the conference is the introductory course on glial biology related to brain diseases. This course provides background information for those who are new in the field or would like to enter the field. This very well attended pre-conference event attracts students, researchers from related areas, clinical scientists and industry representatives. We expect around 300 delegates here.
The fact that the meeting is always held in Europe documents the strong scientific community in glial research and their impact for brain diseases in Europe.
