The program focuses on the processing of sensory information from eye, ear, or the tactile system into its "internal representation" with a multidisciplinary approach. By using a broad methodological spectrum (molecular genetics, electrophysiology, psychophysics, EEG, fMRT, numerical modelling) the structure and function of sensory subsystems is studied as well as their cooperative performance in psychophysical tasks with the perspective of employing results for clinical and technical applications.
The program is open to people who studied biology, physics, psychology, computer science or related subjects. It is centered on the individual doctoral project and offers courses concerning specific scientific knowledge and lab skills, communication and presentation techniques as well as strategies for career development.
