The broad spectrum of methods enabling students to achieve a particular depth in the current research is characteristic for the Master of Neurosciences Program provided by members of the Center for Cognitive Sciences (ZKW). By means of this expertise dealing with the main cognitive functions (attention, learning, memory and executive functions) and the emotional control of actions as well as its pathologic deviations from neurophysiological basics, computational models, psychophysics and imaging students learn to understand and investigate the brain.
Main focus of studies is put on cognitive sciences. Students not only get theoretical basic knowledge in Cellular and Molecular, Systemic, Theoretical and Clinical Neuroscience but also practical experience by a course of Programming and Laboratory Animal Science. Individual focus is set in the second term where students choose three modules out of an offer of eight. Consolidation and application of the advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and training of abilities in the area of experimental design and scientific communication is the aim of two lab rotations which can be made in another institute or clinic in Germany or abroad. Due to their broad education, our students are highly appreciated. 80 % of them start with a PhD after finishing their Master studies
